The logic here is that the dollar’s path is not decided by stocks alone, or yields alone. It is decided by how they react to one another. When real yields rise and stocks fall, capital leaves global markets and rushes into the greenback.

Right now, we are stuck in Regime 2. US real yields are climbing, but the S&P 500 has managed to claw its way back toward highs. This creates conflicting vectors. The yields want the Euro lower; the stock market momentum keeps risk afloat.

To break out of this sideways grind, we need a clean shift into Regime 1 or Regime 4. Either real yields keep climbing while equities roll over, or both yields and stocks drop together. Both paths lead to a lower Euro. We are waiting for one of the two sequences to kick off what can only be described as one of the biggest fundamental miss matches between price and EURUSD’s fair value (which you will see shotly is much lower).

What looks like stubborn resilience in the euro today is the compression phase of a spring being wound ever tighter. The longer the fundamentals diverge from the price, the more violent the eventual release. But we are not there yet.

Next we examine the US-Germany yield spread and the synthetic rate differential model that has genuine predictive power. But before we look at that here are the regimes as a snapshot bookmark this, you will need this in the future again:

The Four Regimes

The genius of the framework is that it collapses into four repeatable regimes. Each one tells you, with historical consistency, where EUR/USD is headed.

The regimes have long lasting mid to long term effects. The following drivers have strong feedback loops into the currency complex lasting from weeks to months.

Yield Spreads: The Dollar’s Fundamental Engine

The spread between US and German yields has been climbing steadily in favor of the United States, and when you overlay it against the dollar, the major swings line up almost surgically. The logic is this: as the yield advantage tilts toward the dollar, capital follows, and the dollar climbs with it (often times used as a fair value model)

The big question is how far this has to run. To answer it, we turn to a synthetic model built specifically to calculate what the market is discounting for the rate differential by the end of December.

What the Market Is Pricing Into December

This is where it gets interesting. The model strips out the noise and arrives at a single figure: the market expects the ECB-FED rate differential to sit at roughly 100 basis points in favor of the dollar by year-end. That is a meaningful gap, and it sits firmly in dollar-positive territory.

Overlay this synthetic differential against EUR/USD and the correlation is unmistakable. Nearly every move moves in tandem, which tells us the model carries genuine predictive power. But the differential has recently dropped sharply, and EUR/USD has not followed it down.

When a reliable leading indicator moves and price refuses to follow, that gap is a clue.Real yields and the equity dynamic are holding EUR/USD back from cascading lower, for now.

The fundamental and macro picture is greatly in favour of a lower EURUSD re-pricing. But there are an avalanche of Dollars hitting the market, from notorious, deep pocket, players.

Central Bank Warfare: Who Is Standing in the Way

Most of the macro and fundamental picture favours EUR/USD dropping, yet it has not dropped. It is obviously fighting something, and that something is not mysterious once you know where to look. A massive wall of state sponsored dollar liquidity.

China’s Shadow Defense of the Yuan

The first combatant is China. Look at USD/CNH and the behaviour is clear: dollars are being sold to prop up the Yuan, and that selling has not stopped. The likely mechanism is either offloading dollars through shadow banks or some form of internal financial maneuvering, but the effect is the same. The Yuan keeps strengthening, and every dollar sold to achieve that is a dollar of resistance against the euro falling.

Once that selling stops, the fundamentals kick in and EUR/USD can decline sharply. The cap is artificial, and artificial caps do not hold forever.

Japan’s Relentless Defense of 160

The second combatant is the Bank of Japan, and its behavior is almost ritualistic. Every single time USD/JPY meets the 160 level, the BoJ steps in and sells dollars aggressively, to the tune of $30 to $40 billion at a time. Pull up a line chart of USD/JPY and the pattern is impossible to miss: price reaches 160, the BoJ intervenes, the dollar drops, the market grinds back up, and the cycle repeats.

What is striking is how unsuccessful this is. Every intervention is followed by the market climbing right back. It is not an effective strategy in any durable sense, yet they keep executing it, and in doing so they keep the entire dollar complex capped.

These massive interventions do not change the long term trend because they do not change the interest rate reality. Investors buy right back into the dollar for the higher yield. But while these central banks are actively burning through their dollar reserves, they act as a temporary ceiling on the greenback.

Without Tokyo and Beijing manipulating this flow, macro modeling suggests EUR/USD would be trading well below 1.10 today.

The Federal Reserve’s Liquidity Tap is shutting

The Fed had been expanding its balance sheet by buying short-term bills, flooding the system with roughly $250 billion since late last year. That injection loosened financial conditions and gave risk assets a powerful tailwind.

Now the Fed is slowing it down, hard. The pace is dropping from $40 billion a month to $20 billion, and in June it falls to around $10 billion.

Fewer dollars entering the system means less fuel for the S&P 500 to push higher, and fewer dollars circulating usually means EUR/USD can finally begin moving down with the tide. The liquidity drain and the fundamental case are starting to point the same way. The question, again, is timing.

The EUR/USD Short Waiting to Detonate

Now we arrive at the trade that everything has been building toward. We took great pain to understand all the actors incentives to open and shut the wave of USD selling.

The Six-Week Cycle Setup

The six-week cycle indicator exists for exactly this kind of trade: large, conviction-driven positions held without being shaken out by local volatility. The 50 level currently sits around 1.1746. A short initiated here anticipates a gap close, followed by a move toward the lower bounds of 1.14.

The mechanics are clean. If price reaches 1.1747, the short becomes interesting, with stops tucked safely behind 1.1849. Normally a setup like this gets layered in aggressively, north of a 10-15% capital allocation, and once it snowballs it becomes a very large position. Right now, though, the allocation is a deliberate 2% risk, to stay engaged and vary of central bank activity.

Why so conservative on a trade with such a clean structure? Because of everything we just covered.

The direction to me is crystal clear. The timing isn’t there yet.

The active central bank selling is the wall of worry. Until China stops propping the Yuan and Japan stops defending USDJPY 160, this chart can stay elevated, and the obvious short stays a 2% probe rather than a 15% conviction position. The spring is wound. The release waits on the intervention ending. When it does, this is the trade to scale.

And that is precisely what makes this so important: it is not screaming for attention, which is exactly why it deserves it.

Is the Dollar about to rip higher tomorrow? Probably not. But the seeds for a proper expansion are being sown right now, and the reverberations will land squarely on every risk asset four to five months down the road. The bond market’s reaction last week, with DXY rallying off the May 12 monthly insult low as US 10-year yields moved higher, is the kind of macro tell that gets dismissed by traders focused only on intraday charts. It should not be dismissed. The DXY rally and the yield rally are moving in tandem because they are pricing the same underlying reality: rates are going higher, and the global capital flows are responding.

The longer Dixie refuses to break down, the higher the probability that what looks like a tired range is actually a bottoming formation in disguise.

The 10-Year Yield Pattern That Started in August 2023

Layered on top of the Dollar story is something even more powerful. The US 10-year yield has been carving out a multi-year compression pattern that began in August 2023 and has now run nearly 2.5 years. Last week’s spike higher was not an isolated event. British yields and Japanese yields moved in tandem, and the global synchronization is the giveaway. This is not noise. This is the early breath of a regime shift.

The catalyst is hiding in plain sight: the oil shock. Crude has been elevated near $100 a barrel for months, and that pressure has finally percolated into the inflation data. Last week’s CPI print of 3.8% is the bond market’s permission slip to reprice everything beyond the front end of the curve.

Gold has been in a downtrend since topping on January 28, 2026 at roughly $5,600, and the last four to five months have been a controlled decline. But sitting inside that downtrend is one of the highest-quality structural patterns in the entire gold playbook: the double-inside three-week candle formation.

The historical resolution profile on this pattern is striking. Roughly 80 to 90% of the time, when this pattern takes out the lows of the inside three-week candle, it rejects the sweep and reverses higher to target the upside liquidity. About 61% of the time, the pattern resolves to the upside by the ninth week, delivering an average return of 4 to 5%. The previous cycle showed this beautifully. The 2015 double-inside three-week pattern marked the absolute bottom of a multi-year downtrend, kicking off a vertical rally. Pull up a side-by-side of gold and the S&P 500 since September 2022, and the choreography is unmistakable. Gold and equities have been moving as joint functions of the same expanding liquidity. The bubble is not in NASDAQ broadly. It is in the chip sector, specifically SMH, Nvidia, AVGO, and the broader semiconductor complex. If you are not positioned in the chip names while the bubble runs, you are missing the gains entirely. But this also means risk management is paramount: this is a melt-up, not a regime change, and melt-ups are the transition points immediately preceding major tops.

The Three-Handed Dance: Nvidia, AVGO, and NASDAQ

The Magnet Mechanism

Three names have been moving the entire equity index in lockstep, and understanding their relative positioning is the difference between catching the move and chasing it. NASDAQ is trading well above its prior all-time highs, sitting above the 1.618 fib extension. Nvidia is midway, still climbing toward its own 1.618 extension at $241.80. AVGO has barely cleared its previous all-time high. The trio is correlated, and the laggards always catch up before the leader tops.

The bottom that printed across all three on the recent correction was simultaneous. The top that will eventually print will also be simultaneous, and the sequence of who tops first matters enormously. The October top in AVGO preceded a NASDAQ bottom; the recovery sequence ran AVGO making new highs first, then NASDAQ catching up, with Nvidia lagging until much later.

Here is the punchline on timing. These mega-cap chip names do not run randomly. They run into earnings, by design. The market needs a justifiable headline so the algorithms can frame a 5 to 10% move as “earnings-driven.” AMD’s blowout report already telegraphed what Nvidia and AVGO are about to deliver. The market already knows. It is just waiting for the calendar.

The earnings number is not the catalyst. It is the alibi. The positioning happens weeks before, and the news cycle catches up after the fact.

Nvidia’s earnings event is imminent. The option calls already opened at the $230 to $235 strike are positioned to capture the runup to the $241.80 target.

The Software Trade, Three Weeks Later

The April 21st Call, Now Playing Out

Three weeks ago, in the April 21st, 2026 Market Situation Report titled The Rally for History Books, the climax setup of the entire thesis was IGV, the software sector ETF. At the time, IGV had drawn down 35% from all-time highs, a recessionary-level drawdown without a recession, into a quarterly support zone that had never been tested before. The trigger was an inside three-week candle failure. The framing was deliberately stark: a 3-to-1 swing risk-reward, roughly 40% upside against 13% downside, in a sector the consensus had written off as obsolete because of AI.

That was the contrarian call. The crowd was fearful that AI would gut hyperscaler software revenue. The structural setup said the opposite: buy the asymmetric drawdown into untested support with a defined trigger and a defined invalidation. Generational entries look like this in real time, not in hindsight.

The crowd was fearful of software when IGV was sitting at a 35% drawdown into untested quarterly support. That fear was the entry. The structural trigger had already fired.

Three weeks later, the trade is doing what the structure forecasted. IGV has rallied off the inside three-week candle failure, the broader software complex is firming up, and the AI-replaces-software narrative is dissolving on contact with reality. This is not a new thesis. It is a continuation of the April 21st position.

Why the AI-Replaces-Software Narrative Was Always Wrong

The lived experience of building real production AI workflows reveals why software developers are about to become more valuable, not less. AI breaks, hallucinates, and lies about completing tasks. Setting up a working hive-mind brain protocol, the infrastructure required to make AI genuinely useful inside a business, takes 3.5 months of full-time work. The guardrails required to make AI functional in production require deep software engineering expertise, and every company on Earth is about to need that expertise to deploy AI internally.

The investors pricing software as obsolete are the investors who do not use software. The demand for skilled software engineers is about to go vertical, not vanish.

Oracle: The 60% Discount Generational Setup

Oracle offered the cleanest single-stock expression of this thesis. The selloff over debt concerns drove the name down roughly 60% from highs, and the market is now waking up to the reality that battle-tested legacy software, debugged across decades, is irreplaceable. Oracle has retraced its prior quarterly downturn within one to two months and runs 48% off the lows. The path back to all-time highs is the base case over a three- to six-month window. The legacy engineering depth, dating back to the 1990s, is exactly the kind of stress-tested infrastructure AI cannot replicate.

Microsoft: The Inside Four-Month Pattern and the Untapped High

Microsoft sits inside a four-month inside-monthly pattern that has not yet confirmed as a failure, but the structural read points to a rally targeting the $481 gap fill in the short term and new all-time highs in the next four to eight months. The previous spike to all-time highs in August or September never took out the actual prior high in regular trading hours; it traded above only in after-market, leaving that equal high as untapped liquidity the market is magnetized to revisit.

The long position opened at $410 sits near breakeven. The thesis: Microsoft is the Switzerland of AI compute, providing infrastructure to OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity, and Grok simultaneously. As AI compute demand accelerates, Microsoft accelerates with it. Whatever catalyst the headlines pin on the move, Bill Ackman opening a position, Bill Gates closing one, is incidental; the structural positioning was in place weeks before the news cycle caught up.

The Climax: AVGO and the Seasonality Trade of the Year

This is what the entire letter has been building toward. AVGO is sitting at a confluence so dense, with seasonality data so lopsided, and a risk-reward profile so favorable, that calling it the highest-conviction setup of the week is not hyperbole. It is arithmetic.

The Inside Two-Day Candle at Previous All-Time Highs

The trigger is an inside two-day candle pattern that formed precisely at AVGO’s previous all-time highs. The pattern resolved upward, confirming a bullish-order-block failure scenario on top of resistance. This is the classic structural setup where prior resistance becomes support and the market refuses to revisit the low of the trigger candle.

The trade was entered around $409 to $415, with the stop placed below the $394 low of the previous 3-week candle. The target is the yearly R1 pivot at $461.27. The risk-reward on this single setup is 2.3 to 1.

Here is where the AI-assisted research changed the conviction profile entirely. Pulling daily, weekly, two-week, three-week, and monthly candle data for AVGO back to its 2009 IPO and analyzing the month of May reveals an extraordinary pattern: May has only printed negative for AVGO twice since its IPO. Breaking the data down further, the second half of May, specifically the third weekly candle and the fourth weekly candle leading into AVGO’s early-June earnings event, captures a median two-week range of roughly 11 to 13%. Historical examples reinforce this: in 2023, AVGO ripped 47% in 18 days going into earnings; in 2024, the second-half May runup into June was textbook; in the 2022 bear market, even with the broader index falling, AVGO still rendered a positive second-half-of-May return into earnings. The earnings number gets pre-priced because AMD and Nvidia report first and reveal the GPU and revenue acceleration that telegraphs AVGO’s print.

And if it is marginal, I do not take it. I sit it out, and I sit happily.

That is the answer. But notice what is doing the work. The work is not discipline summoned in the moment. The work is a process that lives upstream of the moment.

Now take that same logic and weaponise it. The anti revenge pattern is built directly from the trade that got you stopped. On the EURUSD trade using Asia range strategy, the rule that emerged from journaled data is this:

This matters because in 2026, raw cognition is a commodity. AI flattened the cognitive playing field. You are now just as smart as nearly anyone else with a screen and a chat box. The strategies are public. The frameworks are public. So where does the edge live? It lives in the one place AI cannot enter, which is the body.

A process trader closes in that moment because the body has been mapped. The sensation that arrives with hope is recognisable, and recognisable means dismissable. There is no stoicism involved. The work happened months earlier.

What conviction actually is

Scenario 5. Best trade ever, plus 42%, feeling unstoppable, two new ideas outside the rules.

The feeling of unstoppable is the signal. Not the setups. The first move is to address the state, not the trade. Grounding, time lag, distance between the emotion and the next decision. The setup is not just a read on price, it is a read on your risk environment regardless of what you achieved up to this point. If the trade is riskier than your rules allow, you do not have an edge. You have a feeling. You sit it out.

This is where most traders get conviction wrong. They confuse a lucrative target for a high probability trade. A big payout is not the same as a high probability outcome. The two are often inversely correlated. Real conviction comes from one of two places, and only these two:

Mathematical pattern data. A catalogued setup with a robust historical hit rate. The NASDAQ two week inside bar is the textbook case. Across roughly 13 to 14 documented instances, a specific failure pattern, where the inside bar breaks out and then violently swings back into range, had never failed to carry price to the opposite side. Layered with standard risk controls, that translates into roughly an 80 to 85% probability trade. That is conviction.

Honed internal pattern recognition. Engrams built from years of repetition. The May Bitcoin buy was the case study. Around the tariff wars, equities were tanking, Bitcoin held, liquidity was strong beneath it. The red candle was terrifying. The engrams said buy. Near 90% conviction, internal pattern recognition in the highest percentile.

Even then, sizing decides whether conviction earns you anything. The rule, taught to me by a French family office mentor running multi million euro accounts: 90% of the account is base capital, never touched, sitting as margin and ballast. 10% is trading capital. Oversizing on a high conviction trade is funded only by floating profits or realised profits already banked from the regime, never by the base 10%. Scenario 1, the gap up on hype. The honest read is you have no edge here. The first emotion is FOMO, and the FOMO is the alert. If you are feeling it, many others are too, and that is exactly what makes it a trap. The process is JOMO, joy of missing out, and you sit.

Scenario 3, the missed 45% move with cash idle. Frustration is the correct emotion. Let it run its course while you do nothing. Missing the move is a double punishment because you also have to nurse the wound of having missed it, and that is when traders take low quality setups to medicate the regret. Have a process for it before it happens, not during.

Scenario 6, the choppy three week range. This is where overtrading is born. Two triggers, both psychological. The first is uncertainty intolerance. Trading is solitary, no one is whispering not to take this trade, and the body refuses to sit. The second is drawdown panic. Time pressure compounds, the trader fixates on what they could still have if they had done nothing, and the curve accelerates lower.

The fix in all three is the same, and it is structural rather than emotional. Restrict the menu. Walk into a restaurant and you get four sections: starter, main, dessert, drinks. The disciplined trader’s menu is more austere than that. A handful of catalogued setups, each with a documented hit rate, each with a defined entry, exit, and invalidation. Anything outside the menu is not a trade. It is an impulse wearing the clothing of a trade.

This sits inside a broader expected value framework. Every decision passes through four checks: execution, risk, edge, psychology. If any of the four fails, you do not take it. You are never forced to trade. You are only ever obliged to wait for the conditions where your edge meets the right regime, and your psychology is calibrated to execute it cleanly.

Where did you describe a process and where did you describe a feeling? Where did your answer assume you would override yourself in the moment, and where did your answer describe something you do upstream of the moment? Where did you say you would close, and where did you reach for hope?
